Pennsylvania proposed a new law on domestic violence. It was named after Russian immigrant, killed a guy

The house of representatives of Pennsylvania has proposed to introduce a bill that would allow the court to control the enforcement of court orders and will provide an opportunity to protect domestic violence victims from their abusers. The initiative arose after the murder of immigrant from Russia, — reports the edition of Slavic Sacramento.

In accordance with the existing laws, the court has the right to prohibit the offender from approaching the victim at a fixed distance, or to be in certain places. Failure to observe this regulation is punishable by a fine or imprisonment, but there are certain mechanisms that would prevent such violations or to inform on it law enforcement.

In order to rectify the situation was created by bill 588, which was named «Law Alina». The bill was named in honor of the girls who suffered from domestic violence. 20-year-old Alina Sachet from Oakland was murdered by her boyfriend in October 2017. The court released the perpetrator on bail after robbing her apartment.

Alina’s story is not one of a kind. There were numerous similar cases, and this points to serious gaps in the legal system. «The law Alina» offers to put on the criminals of the electronic device that will alert the police in case of violation of court orders prohibiting to be in a certain place and approaching the victim. Thus, victims will have the opportunity to be safe, avoid potential violence, and even death.
