Man wins $4 million lottery, but because of the language barrier received only 4 thousand

Juan Luis Daponte filed a lawsuit this month, trying to prove that the lottery ticket that promised the owner of the winning $ 4 million dollars, belonged in fact to him and deceived him, when told that he won only 4 thousand dollars.

A resident of Massachusetts spoke about how the 2 women have deceived him and got $4 million by winning the lottery, using the fact that he can’t read or speak English.

Juan Luis Daponte this month sold a lawsuit against Maria Oliveira and Suzanne Gaspard to court Bristol Superior Court because of the question about who owns the winning ticket in the lottery. All three live in new Bedford, Massachusetts.

According to the materials of the case, Daponte not read or speak English and Portuguese because he transferred the ticket on which was written a winning in amount of «$4 million» as «4 thousand dollars.»

The man said in the lawsuit that Mary Oliveira cashed the ticket, and he believes that it has previously provided similar services to others in exchange for a cut of the winnings, reports the news outlet The Boston Globe.

The depont claims that Gaspar chose the option of receiving immediately the amount of $2.6 million before taxes, and Oliveira gave him his supposed winnings in the amount of $3800. The remaining amount of $1.6 million remains under the control of the Bank until such time as will not be allowed in this case.

Oliveira, in turn, said that she «never was never cashed lottery tickets», according to her testimony in which she denies the fact of receiving a lottery ticket from Daponte and the fact that she had once given him $3800.

Attorney Gaspar and Oliveira did not respond to a request for comment. Depont attorney and a representative of the lottery refused to comment on the case.
