From USA to Germany is deported 94-year-old former Nazi concentration camp guard

94-year-old former Nazi soldier, who lives in the United States for 60 years, will be deported to Germany by the decision of the Immigration court of Tennessee.

Friedrich Karl Berger, who in 1945 was a guard in the concentration camp Neuengamme, near the German city of Meppen, will be required to leave the United States. The decision was taken on February 28, but the exact date of deportation and the destination is unknown.

The office for human rights and special prosecution of the U.S. justice Department began investigating the case Berger in 2017. During the trial, the Frederick Berger admitted to immigration court in Memphisthat guarded the prisoners in Neuengamme. His task was to control the prisoners and prevent escapes.

In Neuengamme were prisoners of different nationalities: Jews, poles, Russians, Danes, Dutch, Latvians, the French, the Italians, as well as political opponents of the Nazi ideology. People worked outdoors in inhumane conditions, dying from exhaustion, cold and hunger. In the period from 1938 to 1945 in concentration camp Neuengamme were about 100,000 people, and about 42 900 people were killed.

Berger also was a guard of prisoners during their forced evacuation in 1945, at the time of the canadian and British troops. In the course of the evacuation killed 70 people.

The man lived in the U.S. since 1959, and received pension transfers from Germany.
