A Florida man threatened to organize a mass shooting in a supermarket because not enough people wear masks

This week has been arrested 62-year-old resident of Florida, who charged that he threatened to start shooting at a local Publix supermarket, because not enough people wore face masks during a pandemic coronavirus.

The County Sheriff’s office highlands said Robert Kovner of Sebring stated the alleged threat in the post on the social network Facebook.

They explained that he was a threatened mass shooting because he was upset with the fact that not enough people, in his opinion, wore masks before leaving the house. Officials did not disclose the exact location of Publix, but Publix Super Markets, better known as Publix is a supermarket chain headquartered in Lakeland, Florida.

Kovner was arrested by police on Tuesday. He was charged with written threat of a mass shooting, a criminal offence in the second degree in Florida, told the Sheriff’s office.

«We understand that we live in a busy time, but there is no justification for such threats,» wrote representatives of the Sheriff’s office in a private post in Facebook. «This is not a joke. It’s not just a bad day. It is a crime. We will ALWAYS treat it seriously and you will go to jail».

At the time of Thursday morning in Florida recorded more 22500 positive cases of coronavirus, and at least 614 people dead. Governor Ron DeSantis 1 April issued an order to stay home all residents of the state in an attempt to reduce the level of infection.

The centers for control and prevention of diseases of the United States (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) recommend that people wear a mask if you need to leave your home. Previously, they claimed that healthy people there is no need to wear masks, and personal protective equipment is only required for patients with coronavirus and doctors. Now they recommend to everyone to wear masks, leaving the apartment.
