The marriage with immigrants more than a million Americans will not receive benefits during a pandemic

More than a million Americans will not be able to receive benefits designed to help them stay afloat during a pandemic coronavirus — due to the fact that they are the spouses of immigrants who do not have social security numbers.

In the framework of the CARES act, individuals earning up to $75 million, will receive additional payments of $1,200 per month, and $500 for each child under 17 under their care.

However, families who file a tax return using an Individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN) — an outstanding workers without Social security numbers — will not qualify for benefits. Thus, even if you have the right to receive payments, you will be deprived of them because of their marital status. Exceptions will be only those whose spouses serve in the U.S. army.
