New law Texas (House Bill 1935), recently signed by the Governor Greg Abbott, will allow people over 18 to carry knives with blades over 5 ½ inches.

This means that from 1 September people, holding knives from daggers to machetes and swords, will not be considered violators of the law.

«What makes this law? It gets rid of all grey areas and ease of use,» said AGC of Postel, co-founder of Lone Star Gun Rights.

«Currently the law prohibits carrying any knife with a blade length of more than 5 ½ inches. The new law of September 1, removes all restrictions, allowing citizens to carry knives with a blade length of more than 5 and ½ inches, including daggers, double edged knives, daggers, and even swords,» said Postell.

Partly the reason for such active promotion of the bill, its supporters call what the Texans are unfairly held accountable for the fact that are not able to fully dispose of the acquired assets.

«We have seen how many Texans are in trouble due to the fact that they were granted the right to own and buy, but they do not have the right actually to dispose of this subject,» said Postell.

However, the new law has some limitations. It does not apply to bars, schools, churches, airports, government buildings, hospitals, correctional facilities, sporting events and polling stations.

«If someone enters the store or office with this knife, and the owner of the company or the employee does not want the visitor had a knife, they may ask the person to leave or to leave the knife in the car, and, again, law-abiding people will do it,» said Postell.
