The national restaurant Association and the national Association of convenience stores, which represent thousands of retailers, such as Fairway Market and 7 Eleven, filed a lawsuit on Friday, speaking against fines ranging from 200 to 600 dollars from the city authorities for enterprises that have not managed to meet all requirements until August 21.

By order of the Management on sanitary inspection behind quality of foodstuff and medicines of the company that have 15 or more outlets nationwide must begin to include information about calories, including the Federal recommendation for daily allowance of 2,000 calories, to may 2018.

The new rule applies to chain restaurants. But in new York this information is specified in the menu of the city institutions in 2008.

The plaintiffs say that particularly problematic to place such signs with information in stores where they offer single ingredients, like salad bars and buffets. To provide the necessary data for each product may require up to 1000 dollars. The authorities are unable to clarify basic questions, such as how to specify the number of calories for fried chicken, given that chickens (and their various parts) come in different sizes.

Given all the difficulties, the FDA has postponed the deadline to begin implementation of its ruling until may 2018.

According to the New York Post, the lawsuit States that businesses should not have to change their business model or be considered as violators of the law due to the fact that new York city wanted to get ahead of a national regulatory system.

The press Secretary, the city health Department said that the mayor has no plans to concede. Officials believe that their «politics of common sense» will benefit all new Yorkers.

The courts have already ruled that the requirements of the menu are legitimate. Food companies want to achieve only the abolition of shortened deadlinesset by the authorities of new York.
