Target will pay $18.5 million for the settlement of dispute about the leak of client data

The attorney General of the state of new York announced that 47 States and the district of Columbia reached an agreement with Target Corp. on payment of 18.5 million US for the resolution of the litigation associated with the leakage of customer information in 2013. Then, because of hacking the database was stolen tens of millions of customer records and 41 million credit card numbers. Account promptly blocked, but MasterCard has been forced to cancel accounts, create new accounts and issue new cards to millions of customers around the world. The culprit of the hacking was never found.

The agreement requires Target Corp. to revised approaches to security policy and improved data encryption.
