Low-income Californians will receive the benefits in payment of fines for traffic violations

Low-income motorists from California can get concessions for the payment of fines for minor violations. Proposed by Senator Robert Hertzberg the bill includes a reduction of penalties and installment payments for people with low income.

The Committee will consider assiniboia act No. 185 next week. In the case of approval, the action of the driver’s license of violators will no longer suspend for non — payment of fine, each case will consider in court and determine the punishment individually.

Motorists who manage to prove their malatiasebastia will receive the following benefits:

  • the reduction in the amount recovered by 20%
  • installment repayment penalty on 48 months with zero payments in the early period (up until the financial situation of the accused will not change)

Solvent persons and low material status will also receive mitigation of punishment — they would be allowed to extinguish the fines, and the monthly payment will set at the level not more than 5% of total family income.

The new rules will not apply to drivers who did not appear before the court or committed more than one violation in the last 5 years.
