Recruiter for ISIL condemned for terrorism

The investigation the undercover officer in the case of the man who was suspected of terrorism, resulted in the verdict of the Supreme court of the state of new York for the latter. This was stated by the representative of the district attorney’s office on Friday.

Trevor William Forrest, 53, also known as Shaikh Abdul Faisal from the city of Saint James, Jamaica, was found guilty on charges of recruiting soldiers for ISIL and for the travel arrangements of supporters of the Islamic state from new York to Syria.

The Prosecutor’s office say that Shaikh Faisal used for its purpose the promotion of lectures and videos, which prompted a number of people (exact numbers were not disclosed) to join the ranks of the militants.

In order to bring the recruiter to clean water, it took an undercover investigation. A police officer under the guise of an interested person began to chat with Faisal in December 2016. These negotiations took place in different ways: email, text and video chat. According to the officer, Faisal encouraged him to get acquainted with lectures and propaganda of the Islamic state. Later, he offered to help the police to go to the middle East to support the militants.

When the investigator expressed interest in traveling abroad, Faisal encouraged him to marry the woman of ISIS. The officer went to the middle East and, on arrival, Faisal brought him into contact with connected ISIS in raqqa.

The results of the investigation Faisal was charged with supporting terrorism, two attempts of extortion or support terrorism, and conspiracy in the fourth degree.

It is not clear yet whether Faisal will be extradited from the United States or not.
