In 2018 in new York will open an exhibition about the war in Ukraine

The new year will bring to new York a large number of exhibitions and installations for even the most sophisticated tastes. Art in the Big Apple is so diverse that from the countless museums and galleries can expect anything, including fans of the cultural life will be able to see a giant portrait of President of Russia Vladimir Putin, made of 5000 cartridges.

Mural «Face of war» dwell is about 2.5 metres, is one of the five exhibits of the exhibition «the Five elements of war», sponsored by the Ukrainian activist Daria Marchenko and Daniel green. Putin’s face was created using cartridges of ammunition captured during the military conflict in Eastern Ukraine. Depending on the lighting, the «mood» of the picture should change, which makes it even more interesting art object, which is to see with your own eyes.

According to representatives of the Ukrainian Institute, five large-scale works of Marchenko and green came after the artists witnessed the deaths of his friends during a political coupaimed at overthrowing the Pro-Russian government in Kiev in 2014. The exhibition includes also artists found items from the front, including the documents and shrapnel, which are also used in four other works: «Heart of war», «Brain wars», «Flesh war» and «the Fifth element or shell-money.» Each of them tells about their aspect of the war, together with other conceptual components of the exhibition and forming the composition.

«The five elements of war» was exhibited in the gallery M17 (Kyiv), Rayburn House Office Building (Washington, D.C.) and at the Ukrainian Institute of modern art (Chicago). In new York exhibition can be seen from 25 January until 3 February at the Ukrainian Institute of America (2 East 79th Street, NYC 10075) from Tuesday to Saturday from noon to 18:00.
