The festival of San Gennaro is one of the most colorful and significant events occurring in new York. The celebration began yesterday, September 13, and will end on Sunday, September 23.
The whole of the Italian Diaspora and many residents of the Big Apple all year are in anticipation of the feast of San Gennaro Martyr, patron of Naples St. Januarius.
The festival was founded by the Neapolitans who settled on Mulberry Street in 1926. Over time, this spectacular event one day turned into an 11-day extravaganza. In 2018 to lead the parade will be comedian Vic Debatto — he will lead the Grand procession, which will begin on Saturday, September 15 at 2am.
