Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter celebrates his 95th birthday

Today, October 1, a former head of state Jimmy Carter turned 95 years old, thus he became the first President of the United States, which reached this milestone.

Carter became the most long-lived President in U.S. history in March. The previous record holder was George Bush, Sr., who died November 30 at the age of 94.

I wish to congratulate the ex-President can do it from anywhere in the world on the website of the Carter Center, an organization which was founded in 1982 by Carter and his wife Rosalynn.

39th US President Jimmy Carter was born in Plains (Georgia) on 1 October 1924. He became President in 1977 and left his post after 4 years after he was defeated by Republican Ronald Reagan.

In 2002 he received the Nobel peace prize for commitment to building global democracy, conflict resolution and development. He is also the winner of three Grammys for best spoken album.

The most noticeable contribution of Carter after the presidency is the establishment of the centre, who was involved in the elimination of infection by the Guinea worm from drinking water. In 1986 when the Carter Center began a program of liquidation, in 21 there were 3.5 million cases of the disease. According 2018, worldwide there were only 28 cases.
