Wedding at the height of 11 miles: the bride and groom held a «ceremony in the sky» (video)

Bride from New Zealand and groom from Australia picked up his love of aviation (and each other) to new heights, bringing wedding vows in the air, at the altitude of 37 thousand feet (11 thousand meters).

Australian David Valliant and new Zealander Katie Valliant had a wedding ceremony on the flight Jetstar Flight 201 from Sydney to Auckland when the plane was between the two countries.

«It was the most amazing experience that we will remember for a lifetime,» said Katie.

In 2011, the couple met online playing a video game «Airport City», and first met in 2013 at Sydney airport.
«Our love for aviation is what brought us together,» added Katie.

The official wedding ceremony took place in the Sydney airport before takeoff and in the air the couple made their marriage vows.

According to Katie, she always wanted to do «something really memorable» at their wedding, so I wrote the company to Facebook and told them about my idea.

«We wanted it symbolized our love for aviation, our love for Australia and New Zealand and our love to each other. I thought I’ll be cheeky and ask Jetstar,» said Katie.

The airline agreed.

«All the passengers in advance received an e-mail stating that they can go into photos and videos. Travelers who wanted to change the flight, could do it for free,» — said the representatives of Jetstar.

The company added that passengers liked to be a part of the celebration of David and Katie.
