The little girl found the owl hiding in the fir, which the family bought for the holidays, while admiring the Christmas decorations.
The tree was decorated with about a dozen ornaments in the form of owls when little India Newman (10 years) saw the live bird peeking out from the branches. The frightened child screamed «Oh my God» and ran to her mother, Cathy McBride Newman, in the dining room of the house, telling her: «Mom, I’m scared of Christmas tree decoration».
After India cried Katie, who loves owls, I went to look at a tree, thinking her daughter was frightened of one of the Christmas decorations in the form of a bird. But she was shocked when she looked closer to the tree and saw the owl turned his head and looked directly at her.

Katie from NEWNAN in Georgia told CNN: «India came running into the dining room and said «Mom, this decoration scared me». Then she burst into tears». Describing the moment when she found the owl on the tree December 13, she added: «I said something like «Okay, this is a real owl»». Then India, still in tears, ran into the other room.
The family opened doors and Windows of the house, hoping that the owl will fly itself. However, when the next morning they woke up, she was still there. She could sit there for about 2 weeks until she finally noticed.

When they called the Chattahoochee Nature Center employee advised them to put some raw chicken in case the owl had not eaten for several days.
The employee came to the family last Saturday and caught the bird, noting that it was a North American scoop. Since the owl was very thin, many experts believe that she was sitting on the tree since the family bought a tree in the store at the end of November.

The family followed the advice of a specialist and left the owl in a cage in a dark room, before she was released the same night.
But the owl could still be nearby. Katie told CNN that night she hears the hooting of an owl.
