Trump met an unsuccessful attempt to repeal Obamacare with the illness of Senator

Yesterday morning, Donald trump made an attempt to explain the failure to vote for the repeal of Obamacare, and he found a new excuse. The fact is, the President believes that one of the Republican senators, who had to support a bill to repeal, was in the hospital.

With one Yes vote in hospital & very positive signs from Alaska and two others (McCain is out), we have the HCare Vote, but not for Friday!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 27, 2017

«One of ours «for» in the hospital plus positive dynamics from Alaska and two more (not counting McCain), we will take the bill on healthcare, but not on Friday.»

And a few hours later during a conversation with journalists, which took place on the South lawn of the White house, the President elaborated on this issue.

TRUMP: I wanted to talk about the bill on health care. We have the necessary number of votes. But one of our senators is in hospital, therefore can not vote.

REPORTER: You say about Senator Ted Cochran of Mississippi?

TRAMP: (Nodding) He can’t vote because he’s in the hospital.

Several hours later, the President again returned to this issue during his speech in Indiana, which addressed the topic of taxes. And again Donald trump said that «votes on health bill they have enough.»

This behavior seems rather strange, even for Mr. trump, the author of the article on MSNBC.

First, Ted Cochran, not in the hospital. In the week that the Senator had some health problems and in the Capitol it did not appear, but as stated yesterday, he, his was not hospitalized.

Thanks for the well-wishes. I’m not hospitalized, but am recuperating at home in Mississippi and look forward to returning to work soon.

— Senator Thad Cochran (@SenThadCochran) September 27, 2017

«Thank you for your wishes. I’m not in the hospital, but restore their health at home, in Mississippi. Looking forward to a speedy return to work.»

Second, regardless of how many times the President will say that «they have to vote,» the reality remains a harsh reality.

Of course, no voting for Cochran would complicate the Republicans ‘ abolition of the draft Obama for the honey.insurance. But, it seems that trump chooses to ignore simple arithmetic: for adopting the necessary legislation needed the support of at least 50 of the 52 Republican senators. This means that the Republicans can afford only two votes «against». But there were three.

But why the President chose such a strange tactic? He probably is trying to provide a plausible explanation for its failure. Donald trump promised to spend the healthcare bill through the Senate. But he has not received support, therefore the President could not conclude a specific transaction. So it is easier to shift the responsibility for a health problem Ted Cochran than to accept defeat.
