Apparently, the promises of Barack Obama on building a «warmer» relations with Cuba will not come true. The US government has imposed new sanctions against the country, which come into force on Thursday, 9 November. The main purpose of the new restrictions is to prevent the use of weapons, means of intelligence and other enforcement action against American tourists and trade partners, said in a statement, the Ministry of Finance.

New restrictions were proposed by the administration trump in June. Then the President urged to tighten existing sanctions, saying that the Cuban government continued to oppress their people, and former President Barack Obama in 2014 went too far in the intentions to establish diplomatic relations with its former enemy in Washington.

The new sanctions include a list of 180 government organizations, holding companies and travel companieswith whom Americans are prohibited to maintain business contacts. It also included 83 state of accommodation, including famous hotels in Old Havana, such as once a favourite of Ernest Hemingway — Ambos Mundos, as well as new luxury shopping center of Havana.

And, although American tourism to Cuba is not canceled, taking into account the new limitations, to travel into the country on their own will be very difficult for US citizens. Although the planned group travel of Americans in support of the special representative remains possible.

The new sanctions are not retroactive, so any business relationship and travel scheduled until the law comes into force will be resolved.
