He argued his decision by the fact that he has more important issues that he would like to discuss with Putin, for example, the conflicts in Syria and Ukraine and a nuclear threat from North Korea. He stressed that America really is important to maintain good relations with Russia.

Trump confirmed today that the two leaders held «two or three very short conversations», during which they discussed Syria.

Trump has repeatedly called the investigation of possible Russian interference in the election a «witch hunt», which was started by the Democrats.
