Three nuclear powers – USA, Britain and France – refused to send their ambassadors to participate in the ceremony of awarding the Nobel peace prize, which will be held in Norway. Instead, the ceremony will go to the Deputy heads of diplomatic missions, i.e. the diplomats of the second rank. On his decision to ambassadors of the three countries said during the official meeting with the leadership of the Norwegian Nobel Institute last week. The decision was confirmed by representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Oslo, saying he did not intend to submit to the ceremony of the best diplomats.
Representatives of the nuclear powers to consider awarding the peace prize to the International campaign for the abolition of nuclear weapons (International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, ICAN) «insult» and do not accept the idea of a total ban nuclear weapons promoted by the organization.
Representatives of the U.S. mission, said that Washington will not sign the UN Convention that protects the abolition of nuclear weapons as it believes that this will not be the basis of peace on Earth is a «ignore the current security issues».
Recall that the UN Convention banning nuclear weapons was signed July 7, 2017. The document requires States parties to «never under any circumstances» develop, test, and not to use nuclear weapons. In signing the Convention did not participate UK, USA, Russia, China and France.
