Kirsten Nielsen led the Department of homeland security

For the second time in U.S. history, the Department of homeland security is headed by a woman — on Tuesday, the Senate approved the nomination of Kirsten Nielsen, previously proposed by Donald trump. It voted 62 representatives of Congress, and vs — 37.

45-year-old Nielsen is an expert on cybersecurity with more experience. She worked as head of the Department of homeland security under Secretary John Kelly, and when he headed the White house, became his Deputy.

Prior to that, Ms. Nielsen led the office of legislative policy in the transportation security Administration of the United States. In its track record also work in Advisory Council on global risks at the world economic forum.

Elaine Duke, who was acting Secretary of the Ministry of internal security after the transfer of John Kelly to the White house, congratulated Kirsten Nielsen on his appointment. In her statement, she noted her experience and deep understanding of the challenges facing the Agency.

Republican Senator Mitch McConnell expressed hope for fruitful cooperation with Nielsen.
