The battle for the right of transgender people to serve in the armed forces is nearing its final stage, and it seems that victory is on their side. On Monday, despite the ban of Donald trump, the defense Department formally authorized the representatives of the TRANS community to join the ranks of the American army: they begin to call as of 1 January 2018.
Press Secretary of the Pentagon, major David Eastbourne told the Associated Press that the recruits are thoroughly checked for standards of physical and mental health. They will be able to refuse in the case of gender identity disorder (gender dysphoria) and other mental problems related to sex change — for example, bipolar disorder.
Besides transsexuals, passing hormonesensitive therapy should confirm that are in a stable condition for at least 18 months.
We will remind that last year the Minister of defense ash Carter has allowed transsexuals to serve in the army. However, in July this Donald Trapm ordered to forbid them to join the ranks of the armed forces in any capacity.
