Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a press conference today in Moscow that the United States is in the grip of «spy mania» started by opponents of President Donald trump.
Putin also expressed hope that relations of Russia and the USA once again be the same.
As reported by Reuters, Putin praised Donald trump for his achievement.
«Not for me to assess the work of the President of the United States. It should be the voters, the American people. But we are seeing that there are some major achievements in such a short time», — said Putin. «Look at how growing markets. This shows the investor confidence in the American economy.»
Another insinuations about the alleged Russian interference in the presidential elections of 2016, Vladimir Putin rejected and called them «fabricated». «It’s all invented by people who oppose trump. And these people strike the internal politics of America. Such accusations are disrespectful to the voters,» Putin said.
He said Moscow understands that trump the desire to improve relations with Russia is limited by the scandal, but hopes that one day it will happen.
According to Putin, Washington and Moscow have much in common: the situation in the middle East, North Korea, international terrorism, environmental problems and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. «You should ask trump if he has the desire to improve relations. I hope so,» said Putin.
At a press conference Russia’s President said that he will run in 2018 as an independent candidate.
Recall, the 65-year-old Vladimir Putin has been in power in Russia (as President or Prime Minister) from the end of 1999.
