Jeff Seshns denied ties with Russia at a meeting of the intelligence Committee

On Tuesday, U.S. attorney General testified in the Senate Committee on intelligence , and answered a number of questions concerning resonant themes of Russian interference in the presidential election. As expected, Sess has denied allegations of a secret agreement with the representatives of the Russian Federation.

The collusion with Russia and a meeting with Sergei Kislyak

Last month, the attorney General was suspected in a secret conversation with the Ambassador of Russia during the election campaign. The fact that two of his contacts with Sergei Kislyak confirmed and a possible third meeting in the hotel Mayflower, Washington, was the subject of the investigation.

Speaking before members of the Committee, the head of the Ministry of justice has commented on the information. He confirmed that in April 2016 is really present in the hotel but had no Kislyak, nor other Russians of private meetings or discussions regarding intervention in elections.

Moreover, Sess assured that he was unaware of collusion with officials of the Russian Federation, which would take anyone associated with the presidential campaign.

A charge of perjury

Recall that when joining the present post Sess said that he did not met with Kislyak. Later it accused him of perjury. During testimony on Tuesday, the attorney General explained the discrepancy in his own words. He said he had previously not denied the fact of the meetings, and their criminal purpose.

The reasons for recusal from the investigation

Sesns told why he removed himself from the investigation in the case of the Russian intervention in elections. According to him, as a former member of the election campaign of the President, he had no legal right to participate in the process.
