The vote occurred after the U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley issued a serious warning the United Nations that the United States will «learn» the countries that have condemned their decision and «remember this day».

Haley also hinted that the financial support of the United States will not be guaranteed after the decision and that the States are not required to support the organization, which condemned them.

«The United States is, of course, are the largest donor to the United Nations», she said, noting that «U.S. participation in the UN was of great benefit to the world.»

«We are doing this because it speaks what we are … when we make generous contributions to the UN, we rightly expect our goodwill to be recognized,» said she. «If our investments do not justify themselves, we will be forced to spend our resources more productively.»

«This vote will affect American attitudes toward the UN and our relationship to those countries that do not respect our decisions at the UN,» she said.
