North Korea called the recent UN sanctions an «act of war»

The latest UN sanctions against North Korea are an»act of war» and was tantamount to a total economic blockade of the state, said Sunday the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the DPRK, threatening to «punish» those who supported the measure.

The UN Security Council voted unanimously for new sanctions against North Korea on Friday. The decision was taken in connection with the recent test of North Korea’s Intercontinental ballistic missiles. Sanctions aimed at restricting the country’s access to petroleum products and crude oil, as well as restricting the rights of North Koreans for employment abroad. In total, oil exports to North Korea were limited to 90% (a total of 500 000 barrels of oil and 4 million barrels of crude oil per year). In addition, in accordance with the document, the DPRK citizens working in member countries of the UN should be expelled to their homeland in a period of 24 months.
