The Central election Commission of the Russian Federation unanimously adopted the official decision to ban Alexey Navalny to run for presidential elections in 2018.

Recall that the case «Kirovec» is regarded by many solely as a political tool, serving to not to allow the opposition to elections in 2018. Navalny is the most serious contender for the presidency during the reign of Vladimir Putin.
After the decision of the Central election Commission Alexei Navalny has released a video message to his supporters, urging them to boycott the elections. «That’s where you call for to go in 2018 is not an election,» said Navalny. «Only Putin and candidates whom it selects to receive the part. Now to go to the polls is a vote for lies and corruption.»
Speaking to the Central election Commission, Alexei Navalny also said that their decision is not directed against him but «against the 16 thousand people who nominated him and against 200 of the thousands of volunteers who campaigned for him».
