USA TODAY: Russia – the «evil Empire»

The editorial Board of the journal USATODAY decided to start the year with material about the intention of Russian President Vladimir Putin to take over the world.

The article from the first row refers to the source of the title. The «evil Empire» called the Soviet Union back in 1983 , the year U.S. President Ronald Reagan, addressing the national Association of evangelicals. Reagan exacerbated drooping at that time, the crisis of relations between the countries-participants of the cold war.

USA TODAY: Russia – the «evil Empire»

According to the editorial, Putin is stuck in my head obsession to restore the territorial and political influence of the Soviet Union, using force.

Ironically on the vision of the political course of the «evil Empire», in the publication of this strategy, Russia was given the name «Make Russia Great Again» by analogy with the used even when the same Reagan, and patented as a brand the current U.S. President Donald trump with the slogan «Make America Great Again».

The main arguments in favor of this view, referring to the material U.S. Secretary Rex Tillerson, The New York Times, USA Today calls:

  • The sale of arms to the Taliban and the sale of oil to the DPRK.
  • Military support for the regime of Bashar al-Assad, during which Russian troops «committed atrocities, bombing the convoys of United Nations and concentrating on the hospitals.»
  • The invasion of Russia in Georgia in 2008 and the invasion of Russia in Ukraine in 2014 and the annexation of Crimea. The latter, according to the newspaper, is the first after the Second world war, an attempt to change the borders of the EU force.
  • The intervention of Russian hackers in the US elections of 2016, including Internet «trolls» on Facebook and leakage of letters to the leaders of the democratic party.
  • The reaction of the Administration on the strengthening of sanctions and the announcement of the supply of anti-tank weapons to Ukraine. The editorial staff considers the response of the government on the «emerging threat» schizophrenic.

The article also presented an opposite opinion. The editors note that Donald trump intends to maintain peace with Russia. In November, the US President said on Twitter that not to seek friendly relations with Russia would be «stupid.»

When will all the haters and fools out there realize that having a good relationship with Russia is a good thing, not a bad thing. There always playing politics — bad for our country. I want to solve North Korea, Syria, Ukraine, terrorism, and Russia can greatly help!

«When all the haters and fools realize that good relations with Russia is good, not bad. Constant game in politics is bad for our country. I want to solve the issues of North Korea, Syria, Ukraine, terrorism, and Russia can be of great help!».

In addition, trump never convened a Cabinet meeting on the issue of the intervention of Russian hackers in the elections, and the decision on the introduction of stricter sanctions against Russia according to the newspaper deliberately handed down too long.
