President Donald trump asks Congress to allocate $ 18 billion to Finance future wall along the US border and Mexico.
In the document the border-customs (CBP) says that the implementation of the plan trump will cost $ 33 billion, of which 18 will be spent on the construction of the wall. The remaining 15 billion will be spent on equipment, staff and training.
White house spokesman confirmed to CBS News that the construction of the wall will leave more than a decade. The paper reported that investments in the amount of $ 18 billion will cover the work for the construction of the 722-mile border wall. The funds will be directed to the construction of a new fence at 316 miles (508,5 km) and strengthening or replacing the old fence at 407 miles (655 km).
It is unclear whether this funding is part of a package of government spending, which is currently being debated in Congress.
Creating prototypes for the boundary wall was completed in October, and CBP said they will soon begin testing. But even if the administration is already preparing for the construction of the interstate fence, Congress may not allocate money from the budget.
Funding was repeatedly blocked by Democrats in the Senate, since the adoption of the legislation on expenditures is necessary 60 votes and the Republicans only 52.
The leader of the minority in the House of representatives Nancy Pelosi responded to a report of the necessary amount for the construction of the wall in a letter to the Democrats: «This is disturbing. We all need to be heard.»
