The United States condemned the opening of the Crimean bridge

The U.S. state Department condemned the construction and opening of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin bridge between the Krasnodar region and occupied Crimea.

At a press conference, state Department spokesman Heather Nauert once again stressed that Crimea remains the territory of Ukraine, therefore, the construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait is a reminder that Russia is ready to continue to violate international law.

Yesterday (15 may) took place the solemn opening of the Crimean bridge, which was held with the participation of the Russian President. The event attracted the attention of dignitaries on a world scale, and users of social networks, which do not miss the opportunity to make fun of Putin.

«On Tuesday the President of Russia Vladimir Putin drove through the Crimean bridge across the Kerch Strait, officially opening the 19-kilometer bridge that links the South of Russia and Crimea».

In addition to the annexation of foreign territory, the United States sees another problem associated with built a bridge: it prevents the shipping, thus, not all Ukrainian ships will be able to go to the sea of Azov.

Nauert noted that the United States imposed sanctions on many individuals and entities associated with the project of building the Crimean bridge.

«These and other related Crimea sanctions will remain in force as long as Russia is not Ukraine will return control over the Peninsula», — added Neuert.

The state Department spokesman emphasized that the U.S. position concerning the Ukrainian conflict has not changed. Neuert also recalled adopted on 27 March 2014 , the UN General Assembly resolution, which reaffirms the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
