NATO has accused Russia of «provocative military actions»

Today, July 11, the countries of NATO signed a joint Declaration. In it, the Commonwealth accuses Russia of violating international law «provocative military actions». The document also condemned Russia for «an aggressive nuclear rhetoric,» attempts to interfere in the politics of other States (including disinformation and cyber attacks), destabilizing the situation in Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea, which the Commonwealth «does not recognize and does not intend to recognize,» as well as the chemical attack in Salisbury.

Although, said the Alliance he was more than two decades tried to establish contact with Russia and still aspires to it, «Russia has changed the values, principles and promises on which to build its relations with NATO.»

«We still believe that cooperation between NATO and Russia, based on respect for international laws and obligations, <…> would be of great strategic importance. But we can not and will not compromise with the principles that define our Alliance and ensuring security in Europe and North America. – said Commonwealth in the text of the Declaration – We are sorry that in the current situation there is no room for cooperation [with Russia] – despite the fact that the countries-members of NATO and the international community has repeatedly urged the Russian Federation to change its political course».

The Alliance also approved a plan to «30-30-30-30«proposed by Secretary of defense James Mattis. It will allow NATO, if necessary, to lead the embattled 30 warships, 30 land battalions and 30 squadrons for 30 days. According to Reuters, this strategy was developed as a possible response to the aggression from Russia.
