The state Department has demanded from the chargé d’affaires of Russia and the USA Dmitry Zhirnova explanations in connection with the recent events in Facebook. We are talking about blocking the administration of the social network of several dozen accounts from which promoted violence and illegal actions. Some of them were directly related to the so-called «Troll factory«, the creators of other groups carefully concealed their personal data.
U.S. authorities believe that the activities of these groups is the Kremlin istrying to divide American society and to sow chaos in it.
After the Facebook administration closed down the accounts of offenders, assistant Secretary Mitchell called Dmitry Zhirnova «on the carpet». The diplomat asked the question, for what reasons the Kremlin has resorted to such a negative action, and gave clearly understand that the United States will not tolerate aggressive intervention.

Recall, August 2 Facebook has blocked 32 account for violation of the rules of the social network. According to the Facebook security Department, the activities of private groups bore the signs of «coordinated and inauthentic behavior«. Who is behind most of the accounts could not be established. However, some groups were related to the famous «Fabrick trolls«, which has been implicated in the interference in the US elections in 2016.
«Facebook is not allowed this behavior, because we do not want people or organizations, creating network accounts, mislead others about who they are and what they do», — reads the statement of the security Department of Facebook.
State Department spokesman Heather Nauert noted the efforts of the administration of Facebook in the fight against fake accounts, and demanded that Russia and other countries immediately stop «reckless acts«.
«The United States will not tolerate attempts from abroad, including from Russia, to subvert our democratic processes and institutions,» said Nauert on his Twitter page.
