US senators want to ban Russian banks to conduct dollar settlements

It became known that a group of senators plans to introduce a bill that would ban Russian banks to hold dollar settlements. This should primarily affect public institutions of the Russian Federation, such as VTB, VEB, Sberbank and Promsvyazbank. It is expected that within a few days the full text of the document will be published on the website of the U.S. Congress.

Journalists argue that the bill entitled «an Act to protect American security from the aggression of the Kremlin in 2018» shall prohibit Russian banks operations in the U.S., and to freeze the assets 7 of the state financial institutions. In addition, we plan to cease transactions with debt securities of the Russian Federation, with a maturity of more than two weeks. Among the authors of the bill are Lindsay Graham, Robert Menendez and Cory Gardner.
