Governor Cuomo: America «has never been so great»

The Governor of new York Andrew Cuomo, considered a contender for the presidency in 2020, said that America «will never return to its former greatness» until all its citizens are not getting equal rights.

A clear allusion to the pre-election slogan of Donald trump, with whom he won the election in 2016 («we will Return America to its former greatness» — «Make America great again»), Cuomo made during the signing ceremony of the bill. According to the Governor, trump wants to throw the country back to a time when it was dominated by sexism, racism and intolerance towards immigrants. However, new York will occupy the alternative position, where all segments of the population will have the same opportunities, said the leader of the state.

«We are not going to return America to its former greatness — it has never been so great, — said Cuomo planning to run in November for a third term. — We have not yet reached greatness. We will be great when every American will by all means contribute to it».

Republicans have already reacted to the bold statement of the Governor of new York.

«America for all its faults, has always been a great, — said Executive Director of Dutchess County Marcus Molinaro, who will be the rival of Cuomo from the Republican party the election in November. Mr. Cuomo needs to apologize to the people, he should be ashamed of yourself.»

In order to avoid misunderstandings on the part of politicians and the public, the press Secretary of the Governor lever, Danny explained his idea.

«The Governor believes that America is great, but its greatness will manifest when every man, woman and child will have equal rights, — said the representative of the Governor. — When the President says that we will return America to its former greatness… he ignores the pain that many have experienced [in the past]… because of slavery, discrimination, segregation, sexism and marginalization of women.»

By the way, in the primaries in September, Andrew Cuomo will «compete» for the right to represent the Democratic party in the November elections with the former star of TV series «Sex and the city» Cynthia Nixon.
