Trump will be able to send alerts to the phones of all Americans — as FEMA

President Donald trump will soon be able to communicate with the citizens of the United States using a mobile phone, even if they do not follow his Twitter.

On Thursday (20 September) at 14:18 Federal Agency for emergency management (FEMA) will conduct testing of system of «Presidential alert» (Presidential Alert), which will allow the President to send messages to most mobile phones in the United States. More than 100 mobile operators involved in the implementation of the new «alarm».

«EAS [Emergency Alert System] is a national public warning system that gives the President the ability to communicate with people in case of emergency in the country,» — said in a statement FEMA.

On Thursday, Americans will hear a beep and vibration on mobile phones and then will see the English message: «This is a test of the National wireless system in emergency situations. No action is required».

«Such a system seems necessary in an age when most people are disconnected from «live» media such as radio and television,» said Professor of communication at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Tim Groeling.

FEMA notes that the government can’t track end users through the alert system.
