A caravan of 4 thousand migrants stopped at the border with Mexico due to collisions

From 1.5 to 4 million people from Honduras hope to get to the U.S. in search of refuge from poverty and violence. But they only came to the border with Mexico, where they met resistance.

Today (October 19) the caravan of migrants crossed the border of Mexico and Guatemala, but then they failed to pass around the perimeter waiting for them the police of both countries.

Many men, women and children waved flags of Honduras and chanted: «one way or another, we will go» and «We are not smugglers, we are immigrants.»

«Incredible spectacle on the Mexican border… tear gas… throw stones… the caravan wants to enter…», — commented on the situation in Telemundo network, based in the United States, reporters ride along with the caravan.

Mexican police lined up along the fence, keeping it from huge waves of migrants. Some of them are so desperate that jumped off the bridge, trying to grab one of the makeshift rafts that used other migrants to cross the river and get to Mexico.

In the end, the crowd managed to break through and break the metal gate.

Today in Mexico went to the US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo, who accused the caravan to use women and children as shields and told about 4 Mexican police injured during clashes with migrants.

The US President Donald trump, who spent the week criticizing the caravan in their tweets, reiterated – if Mexico will not stop the migrants, it will take more drastic measures – put military on the border.

Trump also threatened to cut foreign aid to Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.
