Judge Sullivan came to the defense of deported immigrants

Judge Emmet Sullivan on Wednesday questioned the policy of the Ministry of justice, which is supported by the trump. It seeks to provide protection and refuge for immigrants fleeing domestic violence and cruelty.

On Wednesday, Sullivan announced that the trump has violated the immigration laws and the people who were deported because of the new rules, must be returned to the United States.

A Federal judge ruled that the new rules violate the immigration act, so the Department of homeland security and justice was obliged to follow the instructions that existed prior to this.

In his decision, Sullivan said that «there is no legal basis for the current absolute prohibition» and said that the law — the decision of Congress, not the whim of the Executive, and the court declares the decree of the President illegal.

The American civil liberties Union filed a lawsuit on behalf of dozens of people seeking asylum, some of whom suffered persecution in the form of sexual and physical violence.

Jennifer Chang Newell, the managing attorney of the project the ACLU for immigrant rights, hopes that the decision of Sullivan will help to repel the administration’s trump, running roughshod over the rights of foreign citizens who seek asylum. Moreover, the lawyer believes that the new immigration rules which were introduced in June, are not only illegal, but also incompatible with «long-standing commitment of our country to provide protection to immigrants who have been forced to flee [from the country], fearing for his life.»

The Sullivan decision is based on the concept of asylum, which is granted to those who risked persecution in his native country for political beliefs, and racial, ethnic, religious or social grounds. In addition, the U.S. government has already provided shelter to victims of domestic violence and criminal gangs on the basis of the provisions of the immigration act.
