In the new democratic Congress, the chairmen of the committees expressed concerns about trump’s plan to lift the sanctions with the Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska’s Rusal and EN+. And demanded at least a clarification, and, possibly, cancellation of the plan.

«We require you to meet with interested members of the house of representatives on terms that will allow you to fully discuss all aspects of this agreement, the lifting of sanctions and the impact these decisions will have on U.S. efforts to prevent malicious activity directed against our country.»
Trump’s plan is to remove the sanctions against Rusal and EN+ after Oleg Deripaska will reduce them their share from the current 70% to 44,95%. Then Deripaska will remain personally under sanctions, and the company from under them will be released. The agreement with the Russians, according to Stephen Mnuchin, was reached in December. Thus, the surplus stock Deripaska was willing to sell to those companies which are not under international sanctions.
Rusal is the world’s largest non-Chinese producer of aluminium, an important partner of many European and American companies. Therefore sanctions against it relatively painful for the U.S. economy. Despite the Crimea and the Donbass, they were introduced only last spring, but quickly made up the world price of aluminium to the highest in the last seven years.
In a letter to the seven presidents said that they want clear guarantees that Deripaska will retain control of companies through other persons or not will give it into the hands of others its sanctions partners, such as VTB Bank.
