«Dark times»: most Americans believe that the US is going in the wrong direction

Having survived the longest in the history of the US shutdown, more Americans came to the conclusion that the country is on the wrong track.

According to a survey by NBC News and the Wall Street Journal published on Sunday, January 27, 63% of respondents said that the country is «headed in the wrong direction», while 28% believe the opposite (the lowest rate during the presidency of trump). These figures have grown in just a month. Back in December 2018 with the fact that the US is going down the wrong path, agreed 56% of respondents, while 33% claimed that it is not.

The wrong way, mess, chaos, polarization, concern, destruction, deterioration — that’s how the Americans describe the current state of America.

According to a survey by PBS NewsHour/NPR/Marist Institute held prior to the temporary interruption of the shutdown on Friday, 25 January, 54% of respondents accused political crisis as the President.

As for the current poll NBC/WSJ, 43% believe that Donald trump made the wrong changes in the country. Do not agree with this statement 39%.

Among the strongest qualities trump the respondents (NBC/WSJ):

  • changes in business (39%);
  • the effectiveness and communication of results (38%);
  • good negotiator (36%).

The weakest part of the President (NBC/WSJ):

  • stability and reliability (32%);
  • competence and experience (32%);
  • honesty and reliability (28%);
  • high personal and ethical standards (24%).

In the survey from January 20 to 23 January was attended by 900 people. The margin of error is 3.3 percentage points
