California Governor intends to withdraw most of the National guard on the Mexican border

The newly elected Governor, Democrat Gavin Newsom said he plans to withdraw several hundred soldiers of the National guard from the southern California border, despite the request of the administration of the tramp on the support of the border States.

«This crisis at the border is an industrial crisis, — have told the news at a press conference on February 11. We are not interested in participating in this political theater.»

About 100 of the 360 servicemen will continue to be deployed at the border in accordance with the agreement, California and Federal government and focus on the fight against transnational crime, such as smuggling of drugs and weapons, said the press Secretary of the Governor Nathan Click.

Newsom’s statement follows the decision by the Governor of new Mexico Michelle Lujan Grisham, also a Democrat, to withdraw its troops from the border of USA and Mexico. In April last year, former governors of the two States agreed to send troops to the border at the request of the management of trump, joining 2 other border States Texas and Arizona.

«When you have national guards, — said Newsom, — it is difficult to distinguish those who are involved in activities connected with weapons and drugs, from those who may just illegally crosses the border.» He called it a «gray area» with which California doesn’t want to deal with.

Newsome alleges that some retired soldiers will be thrown on the use of Cal Fire to focus on the prevention of fires. According to the Governor, the troops need to help in the fight against the illegal cultivation of cannabis in Northern California.

After just a month after Newsom took office, he came into conflict with trump on immigration. Objecting to the President about the crisis at the border, Newsom said that, overall, illegal crossings are at their lowest level since 1971. He also noted that in California, at 550 thousand less illegal immigrants than ten years ago.

The Governor also accused trump of the recent government shutdown, and hastened to offer unemployment benefits to Californians affected by the closure.
