Trump and Kim Jong-UN: U.S. President left the summit without signing the nuclear agreement

Vietnam held a second historic summit with the participation of the President of the United States Donald trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-UN. The talks went from 26 to 28 February.

As the White house said the two sides were ready to sign the Treaty on nuclear disarmament, but at the last minute everything fell through. As a result, the trump left Vietnam, not signing the nuclear agreement.

«It was about sanctions, — said the President of the United States at a press conference shortly after the White house announced that the summit with the head of North Korea will be terminated. They wanted the sanctions were fully lifted, and we can’t do that».

The signing ceremony was to be held today, February 28, but for 2 hours before it was canceled, trump flew out of Vietnam earlier than your scheduled time. Also yesterday, both leaders said that the dialogue is great.

Most analysts and the media were expecting that after the second round of negotiations will be concluded at least a small agreement, e.g., Declaration of peace (but the war in Korea is not finished yet) or the closure of the plant in Yongbyon (which will continue to produce fissile material for nuclear weapons).

However, in the presidential administration, said that negotiations will continue. Over the past 2 days there has been significant progress, emphasized by the President and Secretary. Mike Pompeo expressed the hope that the parties will be reconnected in the next few weeks, and trump said that was confident that will be the third meeting at the highest level.

Also, the US President stressed that the North Korean leader personally promised him that it would not conduct tests missiles and nuclear weapons.

«Kim Jong — UN is a special person with special character. I think we have a very close relationship. This time we had options, but we decided not to use any of the options,» concluded trump.

Recall, the first summit was more productive. July 27, 2018 in Singapore, the United States and North Korea signed a Declaration of understanding: Donald trump has pledged to provide security guarantees to the DPRK, and Kim Jong-UN reaffirmed the «unwavering commitment to the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.»
