66-year-old Patti Davis, writer and daughter of the late U.S. President Ronald Reagan, said that her father had been «terrified» and «desperate» because of the current situation in the United States, and also because of the policies of the Republican party and Donald trump.
In a new interview with Yahoo News «Through Her Eyes» Davis commented on the work of trump and his party: «have nothing in common with the Republican party of my father’s time».
Although the daughter of the former leader and accused Republicans in the current state of American politics, but the bulk of the criticism in her speech, she is dedicated to Trump, who, in her opinion, threatens American democracy.
«He speaks as an autocrat,’ cried Davis. — He’s friends with autocrats. It supports autocrats. He believes in them. He wants to be one of them.»
In her opinion, President Reagan likely would have agreed with her assessment of the current political climate.

This is not the first case when Davis criticized the US President or the Republican party. During Reagan’s presidency in the 1980’s, Davis was an active supporter of the anti-nuclear movement and an opponent of the policy of his own father. Davis often clashed with his father during his lifetime, but she said «Through Her Eyes» that she was able to reconcile with him for several years before his death, when he fought with Alzheimer’s.
