Federal prosecutors in Manhattan and Los Angeles were charged with extortion and fraud lawyer Michael Avenatti associated with the case, Michael Cohen. It is assumed that he is using threats, tried to summon the Nike $20 million.
Avenatti, was arrested Monday morning in Manhattan. As CNN reports, Nike filed lawsuit alleges that a few days ago, the lawyer Avenatti met with an unnamed attorney of the company and threatened to disclose negative information about Nike if the company doesn’t pay him. «I’ll go and get $10 billion with a market capitalization of your client … I don’t play games. You guys know enough to understand that you have a serious problem. And it is worth it so I opened it,» he reportedly said Avenatti. Law enforcement officers found the information contained in the lawsuit Nike, a decent response and made an arrest of a suspect of a lawyer.
At the same time in Los Angeles, Federal prosecutors also announced the imposition of charges, Avenatti in fraud of the banks.
Avenatti planned to hold a press conference today in new York at 11:00, wrote on Twitter: «We will hold a press conference to unveil a major basketball scandal in high school/College, perfect @Nike, that we uncovered. It’s criminal conduct reaches the highest levels of Nike and includes some of the biggest names in College basketball». Perhaps this tweet sheds light on those allegations, which the lawyer threatened to Nike. The office of Avenatti said that the conference in any case will take place today during the day. Avenatti known fact that, until recently, represented the actress of films for adults Stormy Daniels, a Central figure in the scandal, which Federal prosecutors in Manhattan accused the former personal lawyer of President Donald trump, Michael Cohen. Cohen later pleaded guilty to several charges.
Stormy Daniels has already commented on the incident, the arrest of partner stating that she is «saddened, but not shocked,» and that «he treated me very unfair.»
