Sunday, March 31, in Ukraine started the presidential election. In Kiev (Ukraine) it is observing the elections on behalf of the International Republican Institute (International Republican Institute, IRI), founded by her late husband. The purpose of this nonprofit organization is to assist selected countries in building democracy.

On Friday, March 29, Cindy McCain wrote that he understands a friendly attitude to Ukraine of her late husband. «John was a fervent supporter of the Ukrainian people and supported his quest for freedom. He called his 13th visit during Euromaidan «one of the most emotional…I’ve never seen anything like what we [are] seen.» Now I understand why he loved Ukraine».

The CEC registered 2344 observers from 18 countries and 18 international organizations wishing to monitor the presidential elections. Observers from Russia this time not: the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the law requires that the representatives of the aggressor country could not influence in any way to the voters.

Polling stations in Ukraine opened on Sunday at 8:00 (Kyiv time) and will run until 20:00. In total there are 29 888 polling station outside the country – 101. The ability to vote is not the Ukrainians, who is currently in Russia – in December 2018, the Central election Commission of Ukraine closed there all the polling stations.

The results of the vote must be announced officially until April 10. If none of the 39 candidate wins more than 50% of the vote on 21 April will be held the 2nd round of the elections and the results shall be announced by may 1.

US Senator John McCain in may 2017 called the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin a much greater threat to peace than ISIS. The Senator died of brain cancer August 26, 2018, did not live a few days before his 82 birthday.
