The Minister of internal security of the United States Kirsten Nielsen resigns

Donald trump announced the resignation of Kirsten Nielsen, who led the Department of homeland security (Department of Homeland Security – DHS). She took office on 11 October 2017 and was one of the main allies of the former head of the White house of John Kelly.

….I am pleased to announce that Kevin McAleenan, the current U. S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner, will become Acting Secretary for @DHSgov. I have confidence that Kevin will do a great job!

The President announced that acting Minister of internal security of the United States will Kevin Macalino. Previously, he was the head of Customs and border protection service United States of America (United States Customs and Border Protection USCBP).

The last six months around the figure of Kirsten Nielsen gathered the clouds. It was reported that President Donald trump was unhappy with the implementation of the policy of «zero tolerance» against illegal immigrants. The politician demanded more stringent and effective action, while the Minister of DHS feared further tension in the society.

It should be noted that despite attempts to reduce the degree of intensity, Kirsten Nielsen has come under intense scrutiny from human rights organizations and political opponents of Donald trump. A special reason for the criticism was the practice of separating families of illegal immigrants at the border. Children were selected after their parents were arrested for attempt of illegal crossing of the border. A wave of public outrage even forced the US President to sign an Executive order prohibiting the separation of families.

The position of the Minister of internal security worsened even more when the President’s chief of staff John Kelly sacked. Political experts were sure that it happened because of a conflict arising between the General and Melania trump. Because Nielsen was a longtime ally of John Kelly, his departure from the administration was a serious blow for the head of DHS. As expected, after this event, the 46-year-old woman lasted long in the chair of Minister.
