Julian Assange arrested in London. US authorities filed extradition order

Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks, today, April 11, was arrested by the British police in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, where he has lived since 2012. It was made after Ecuador withdrew granted them asylum.

London police said Assange was arrested in part due to a warrant for extradition served by the authorities in the United States, which increases the likelihood that Assange could be sent to America.

The President of Ecuador, Lenin Moreno tweeted that his country decided to stop to shelter Julian Assange after «repeated violations of international conventions and protocols».

The relationship between Assange and Ecuador was not easy, despite the fact that they granted him asylum and even citizenship.

The U.S. Department of justice have charged a 47-year-old Assange in connection with the publication of secret documents.

Barry George. Pollack, Assange’s lawyer, called it «an unprecedented attempt by the United States to show a foreign journalist, on charges of publishing truthful information.»

Julian Assange is also suspected in contributing to Russia’s intervention in the US elections of 2016 because of the publication of the materials stolen from computers, Hillary Clinton and the Democratic party.

In July 2018, the U.S. Department of justice accused the 12 Russian spies hacking into these computers, and in the indictment it is alleged that at least one of them was in contact with WikiLeaks.
We will remind, recently the attorney General William Barr stated that spectracolor Robert Mueller found no evidence that Donald trump was in cahoots with Russia.

Julian Assange took refuge in Ecuador’s Embassy in June 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden where he is accused of sexual violence. He insisted that the accusations against him are false, and stated that the Swedish authorities intend to extradite him to the United States.

Assange, born in Australia, created WikiLeaks as a tool that allows people to anonymously publish the secret material.

He first attracted international attention in 2010, releasing numerous classified documents and videos of the United States of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
