Washington Post: the White house wanted to send caravans and migrants to the cities of refuge, to attack Democrats

Representatives of the administration of Donald trump repeatedly discussed the plans of sending large groups of detainees on the border with Mexico, immigrants in the cities of refuge. Moreover, we are talking about cities, where prominent elected congressmen and senators from the Democratic party. In addition to a distinctive solution to the border problem, officials believed that it would be a blow to Democrats, forcing voters turn away from them.

Supposedly this was e-mailing the White house and the Department of homeland security DHS and ICE. The Washington Post claimed that he received several such letters. As writes the edition, officials discussed the plan on November 16, when the border was approaching a large caravan of immigrants, in deciding whether members of the caravan to be arrested at the border and then shipped «in small and medium-sized cities of refuge». That is, in places, where the regional authorities refuse to extradite illegal immigrants for deportation.

In particular, it was discussed as a destination San Francisco — congressional district Nancy Pelosi. A White house spokesman told the ICE officer that this would reduce the problem of shortage of places for the detention of immigrants and thus would serve as a message to the Democrats. Senior ICE abandoned the idea, citing budget problems and logistics.

Later in February, the idea was discussed again. In addition to San Francisco suggested as cities of refuge, new York and Chicago. According to two officials of DHS, senior Advisor to trump, Stephen Miller discussed the proposal with ICE. Matthew Albans, acting Deputy Director of ICE, immediately questioned the proposal. It is argued that the question specifically studied attorneys office came to the conclusion that such actions can be challenged by courts and legislators. Also studied the possible logistics of sending immigrants, the experts assured that the transportation will be too difficult, risky and expensive.

The white house and DHS to request publication on Thursday sent a nearly identical statement in The Post indicating that this proposal is no longer considered. Albans refused to comment, but a representative issued a statement, admitting that such a discussion really was: «It was just a proposal that was presented and rejected, which put an end to further discussion.» Steven Miller, who oversees immigration policy for the White house, declined to comment, but the Washington Post says that originally it was his idea.

Yesterday, however, the fact these discussions confirmed the Donald trump, insisting that this idea makes sense: «We really, as reported, have a few ideas regarding the placement of illegal immigrants in the cities-the sanctuaries»

Due to the fact that Democrats are unwilling to change our very dangerous immigration laws, we are indeed, as reported, giving strong considerations to placing Illegal Immigrants in Sanctuary Cities only….

Hard to say, but the recent resignation of the head of the ICE Vitello and the head of DHS Nielsen may be caused, including their intransigence plans for the transfer of the caravans of migrants in the cities of refuge.

The news of the discussion of these ideas was commented by the leader of the Democrats in Congress speaker Nancy Pelosi: «the Degree of cynicism and cruelty of this administration cannot be overemphasized. Using people, including young children, as pawns in their twisted game to promote a society of hatred and fear of immigrants, is a cowardly act».

Newly elected Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot told CNN that undocumented immigrants are always welcome in her city, even if the President trump sends them back: «we Have a whole infrastructure that was created in order to protect their rights. Chicago allocated funds to support the asylum-seekers, and people passing through the immigration courts system. We have immigrants from all over the world who call Chicago their home. We will continue to ensure that our city was really welcoming to them.»

President Donald trump never hid the negative attitude to the status of cities of refuge. «These monstrous cities pose a serious threat to public and national security,» said trump, in his speech at the conference on safe neighborhood in Kansas city (mo), December 7, less than a month after the White house discussed with ICE moving detainees to the cities. «Every year, cities of refuge freeing up thousands of known criminals from custody and return them back into society,» said trump.
