Representatives of the administration of Donald trump repeatedly discussed the plans of sending large groups of detainees on the border with Mexico, immigrants in the cities of refuge. Moreover, we are talking about cities, where prominent elected congressmen and senators from the Democratic party. In addition to a distinctive solution to the border problem, officials believed that it would be a blow to Democrats, forcing voters turn away from them.
Supposedly this was e-mailing the White house and the Department of homeland security DHS and ICE. The Washington Post claimed that he received several such letters. As writes the edition, officials discussed the plan on November 16, when the border was approaching a large caravan of immigrants, in deciding whether members of the caravan to be arrested at the border and then shipped «in small and medium-sized cities of refuge». That is, in places, where the regional authorities refuse to extradite illegal immigrants for deportation.

Hard to say, but the recent resignation of the head of the ICE Vitello and the head of DHS Nielsen may be caused, including their intransigence plans for the transfer of the caravans of migrants in the cities of refuge.
The news of the discussion of these ideas was commented by the leader of the Democrats in Congress speaker Nancy Pelosi: «the Degree of cynicism and cruelty of this administration cannot be overemphasized. Newly elected Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot told CNN that undocumented immigrants are always welcome in her city, even if the President trump sends them back: «we Have a whole infrastructure that was created in order to protect their rights. Chicago allocated funds to support the asylum-seekers, and people passing through the immigration courts system. We have immigrants from all over the world who call Chicago their home. We will continue to ensure that our city was really welcoming to them.»

President Donald trump never hid the negative attitude to the status of cities of refuge. «These monstrous cities pose a serious threat to public and national security,» said trump, in his speech at the conference on safe neighborhood in Kansas city (mo), December 7, less than a month after the White house discussed with ICE moving detainees to the cities. «Every year, cities of refuge freeing up thousands of known criminals from custody and return them back into society,» said trump.
