The Ministry of housing and urban development, U.S. (HUD) proposed a new rule that aims to test all members of families applying for subsidized or public housing.

As noted in the proposal, HUD, Article 214 of the Law on housing and community development does not allow non-citizens to receive financial assistance for housing. However, the presence of the so-called «mixed families» complicated compliance rules. Illegal immigrants previously could circumvent the restrictions by living with family members who are US citizens and receive subsidized housing through HUD.

The head of HUD Ben Carson intends to submit in the next few weeks, the draft prohibiting any illegal immigrant to live in subsidized housing, even if it is not the direct recipient of the benefit. According to Daily Caller, HUD currently assumes that tens of thousands of households receiving assistance from HUD are headed by non-citizens. Families trapped in a system of subsidies, allowing illegal immigrants to stay with them, must either comply with the new rule, or they will be forced to leave their places of residence. Households will be checked with the help of the program «Systematic verification of foreigners for the right» program or «SAVE».
