Democratic Senator from new Jersey Cory Booker, candidate for U.S. President, made a plan, consisting of licensing of weapons and the ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
Plan Booker, contains 14 parts, is one of the most radical about gun control and will likely face harsh criticism from the defenders of gun rights, such as the national rifle Association.

«My plan for solving the problem of violence with weapons is simple: we will close loopholes that allow people who should never be weapons to him — said Booker in a statement. — I’m sick of hearing «thoughts and prayers» for the families destroyed due to the use of arms.»
The most notable part of the plan is the proposed licensing program weapons, which provides minimum standards of gun ownership across the country. In accordance with this program, a person wishing to buy a gun must apply for a license almost the same as on the passport. The process will include the submission of fingerprints and interviews will require applicants to pass a certified course on safe gun handling. Each applicant is also required to undergo Federal review of the documents before it will be given a five-year license for the weapon.
Other parts of the plan include the prohibition of civil treatment of rapid-firing weapons and closing loopholes that allow criminals and persons to watch lists for terrorists to obtain weapons.
A study conducted in 2017, showed that 63% of gun owners supported the requirement of obtaining a license in the local law enforcement Agency before purchasing weapons; licensing support weapons among people who are not in possession of arms, was even higher.
Now, American gun laws are among the most liberal in the Western world, and most of the rest of the presidential candidates from the Democratic party also addressed this issue, insisting on tighter control over the circulation of weapons.
«The plan Senator Booker bold and thoughtful,» says the NY Times Peter Ambler, Executive Director of Giffords, the organization for the prevention of violence with weapons. He added that it was «a positive sign» that the presidential candidates sit down at the negotiating table «with the major political proposals to ensure the security of our country.»
