Representatives of security services of EU, say top secret Russian division seeks to destabilize the situation in Europe

Representatives of Western security services came to the conclusion that the secret Russian division seeks to destabilize the situation in Europe.

Poisoning arms dealer in Bulgaria Emilian Hebrew, a former Russian spy in Britain, Sergei Skripal, and perhaps many other cases are part of a coordinated and sustained campaign of destabilization of Europe, conducted by an elite unit of the Russian intelligence system with the skills of Subversion, sabotage and murder.

The group, known as the division 29155, valid for at least ten years, but Western officials discovered it recently. Intelligence officials in four European countries say they do not know how often the unit is mobilized.

«I think we forgot how truly ruthless can be Russian,» said Peter Zwack, a former military intelligence officer and former military attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, who said that he did not know about the existence of the unit.

Its operations are so secret, according to the estimates of Western intelligence agencies that the existence of units is likely unknown even to other detectives.

Western intelligence agencies first determined this unit after a failed coup in Montenegro in 2016, during which two members of the division organized a conspiracy to kill the Prime Minister of the country and to seize the Parliament building. The situation began to dawn after ex-spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia became seriously ill after exposure to a highly toxic nerve agent.

Speaking to journalists in February at a security conference in Munich, Alex Younger, head of MI6 British foreign intelligence service, spoke out against the growing Russian threat and hinted at coordination, without mentioning a specific OU.

«There is an agreed programme of action — and, Yes, it often involved the same people — said the Younger, pointing specifically to the poisoning Skripal and a coup attempt in Montenegro. We estimate a constant threat to the GRU and other Russian special services.»
