Trump made a surprise visit to Afghanistan to greet the American military with thanksgiving

President Donald trump made a surprise visit to Afghanistan on thanksgiving, and said that, in his opinion, the Taliban want a ceasefire.

My first trip to the place of the longest war in America trump arrived at the Bagram airfield on Thursday, November 28, and spent more than two and a half hours on the ground. He had lunch with the Turkey, thanked the troops and spoke with the President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani.

During his visit, trump said that the US and the Taliban are interested in peace talks.

«We meet with them, — said the President of the United States. And we say that there should be a cease-fire. And they don’t want truce, but now they want to cease fire… and we’ll see what happens.»

Trump confirmed that he would like to reduce the number of troops to approximately 8,600 people in Afghanistan with 12 thousand that are now there.

The White House posted a video on his micro-blog Twitter, where trump greeted by the military.

The President and first lady made a similar trip last year to Iraq on Christmas night — their first tour in the active zone of conflict. Vice-President Mike Pence also visited troops in Iraq this week.
